Therapeutic Areas Interface

Header Section

The header section of the Therapeutic Areas interface contains three main elements:

  • Page Title: "Therapeutic Areas" displayed prominently at the top-left of the page
  • Search Bar: Located in the top-right area, allows you to search for therapeutic areas by typing keywords in the "Search therapeutic areas..." field
  • Add Therapeutic Area Button: A dark blue button with a white plus icon and "Add Therapeutic Area" text, positioned next to the search bar

Searching for Therapeutic Areas

To search for specific therapeutic areas:

  1. Click in the "Search therapeutic areas..." input field in the header
  2. Type any part of the therapeutic area name or other identifying information
  3. The table will automatically filter to show matching therapeutic areas as you type
  4. Clear the search field to view all therapeutic areas again

The search functionality filters the therapeutic areas table in real-time as you type. For example, typing "Malignant" in the search field will display only therapeutic areas whose names contain "Malignant". The filtered results are displayed immediately, making it easy to find specific therapeutic areas in large lists.

  2. A dialog or form will appear prompting you to enter therapeutic area details

Therapeutic Areas Data Table

The main content area displays a comprehensive table listing all therapeutic areas in the system. The table includes the following columns:

Table Columns

  • Therapeutic Area Name: The full name of the therapeutic area (e.g., "Malignant neoplasms - Multiple myeloma", "Mental, Behavioral And Neurodevelopmental - Schizophrenia")
  • Date Created: The date when the therapeutic area was first created, displayed in "DD Month, YYYY" format (e.g., "15 October, 2025")
  • Status: The current status of the therapeutic area, displayed as a button (typically "Active" shown in light blue)
  • Actions: Icons for editing and deleting the therapeutic area record

Understanding Therapeutic Area Status

The Status column indicates whether a therapeutic area is active or inactive:

  • Active: The therapeutic area is active and available for use throughout the system. This is displayed as a light blue pill-shaped button with white text "Active".
  • Inactive: The therapeutic area is inactive and may not be available for selection in certain parts of the system. This would be displayed as a different colored button (typically gray or red).

The status is displayed as a colored button in the table, making it easy to identify the state at a glance. The color coding provides immediate visual feedback about each therapeutic area's availability.

Therapeutic Area Actions

Each therapeutic area row in the table includes action buttons in the rightmost column:

Editing a Therapeutic Area

To edit an existing therapeutic area's information:

  1. Locate the therapeutic area in the table
  2. Click the pencil icon (edit icon) in the Actions column for that entry
  3. An edit dialog or form will appear with the therapeutic area's current information pre-filled
  4. Modify the fields you want to update:
    • Name
    • Status
  5. Click "Save" to apply the changes

Deleting a Therapeutic Area

To delete a therapeutic area from the system:

  1. Locate the therapeutic area in the table
  2. Click the trash can icon (delete icon) in the Actions column for that entry
  3. A confirmation dialog will appear to prevent accidental deletions
  4. Confirm the deletion by clicking "Delete" or "Confirm" in the dialog
  5. The therapeutic area will be removed from the system and will no longer appear in the table
Warning: Deleting a therapeutic area is a permanent action. Ensure you have proper authorization and that the therapeutic area should no longer be used before proceeding with deletion. Consider the impact on existing data and reports that may reference this therapeutic area.

Pagination Controls

When there are many therapeutic areas in the system, the table uses pagination to display entries in manageable pages. The pagination controls are located at the bottom of the table.

Pagination Features

  • Page Indicator: Shows the current page number and total pages (e.g., "1 of 3"). The current page number is displayed in an input field, making it easy to see your position in the list
  • Item Count: Displays the range of items shown and total items (e.g., "1-10 of 22 items"). This shows how many therapeutic areas are displayed on the current page out of the total number of therapeutic areas
  • Rows Per Page: A dropdown menu allowing you to select how many therapeutic areas to display per page (default is 10). Available options typically include 10, 25, 50, 100, etc.
  • Navigation Arrows: Four navigation buttons:
    • First page (K icon): Jump to the first page
    • Previous page (< icon): Go back one page
    • Next page (> icon): Advance one page
    • Last page (>I icon): Jump to the last page

Using Pagination

To navigate through multiple pages of therapeutic areas:

  1. Use the arrow buttons to move between pages
  2. Click the first/last page buttons to jump to the beginning or end of the list
  3. Use the "Rows per page" dropdown to change how many therapeutic areas are displayed per page (10, 25, 50, 100, etc.)
